Association of graphic designers «4th Block»

The Association of graphic designers «4th Block» was established in 2002 by the initiative of the Honorary Artist of Ukraine Oleg Veklenko, as a public institution, uniting Ukrainian graphic designers, who care of social problems of the society, environmental conditions and ecology in our country and are interested in the development of Ukrainian graphic design. In 2004 the Association «4th Block» was admitted as a member of ICOGRADA — international institution, uniting national associations of graphic designers from all over the world, as the sole representative of Ukraine for its activities, related to the organization of the ecological graphic poster triennial with the same name. The Association of graphic designers «4th Block» is legally registered and has the status of a public institution, its bank account and a stamp.

Activity Objectives of the Association of graphic designers «4th Block»

• Encouragement of finding creative and socially active members of the association, the development of Ukrainian graphic design on the whole and its integration into the professional international institutions;
• Drawing public attention to the problems of environmental pollution by means of contemporary art and design;
• Creation of favourable conditions for the implementation of artistic innovative and design projects supporting ecology;

Main goals of the Association activities:

• Every three years the institution organizes the ecological graphic and poster triennial «4th Block» in Kharkov. The upcoming, seventh triennial will be held in 2009;
• Creation of Art-Design Centre «4th Block» in order to accumulate, keep and demonstrate the best world achievements of ecological poster, graphics and other ecological arts.

The Association of graphic designers «4th Block» encourages the arrangement of national, international exhibitions and competitions of ecological poster, other ecological arts and also participation of Association members in these events;
provides the organization of the Association members artwork exhibitions and invitation of the guests, master-classes, symposia, festivals, seminars, and other scientific and cultural projects;
assists in the preparation and publication of catalogues, albums and other printing products, supporting and accompanying the abovementioned events.

Members of the Association are its founders and other persons, who joined the Association in accordance with the procedure established by the Articles.
