Three in one

On the 27-th of February the walls of Kharkiv Academy of Arts and Design held a thesis defense for a group of young doctoral candidates.
One of the scholars — Oksana Chumachenko presented her work not on one, but on three separate environmental topics.
For her first project she chose to create a brand new graphics' style for the approaching VII triennial «The 4-th BLOCK.» Fresh and innovative design immediately captured imaginations of the examining committee, launching a long and passionate after-defense discussion among the committee members and the curious public. Her second work was a design of a concept style for the upcoming «Contemporary Arts Center.» And for the final piece of her tri-segmented presentation she introduced a design for an inspiring project called «The eco-bag» — an idea that the environmentally unfriendly plastic bag does not necessarily have to be plastic, and that it can be easily replaced by a new, stylish, and, most importantly, much more eco-conscious substitute. 18.02.2008 Lesson English with a designer accent

Marcel Benchik, the famous Slovak designer, one of organizers  International design conference «Kupe» visited Kharkov. He had many interesting meetings with kharkov's designers and students of Kharkov State Academy of Design and Arts. The students listened Marcel in english very attentively. It was delishes and very interesting for all.

Reviews of students:
It was really pleasant and exñiting event.  A was utterly astonished to see such a close person. From my view, he really feels the verge between simple fancy and infaluation. It makes each of his project exact and full of feeling. He is challenged to make every of his projects. Neverthelles his design exists not for design but for people he addressed to.

«Eco-torba — eco-bag»

Together with a graphic design association «The 4-th Block», a group of young musicians «Kryhitka Zhahes» launched a project called «The eco-bag», in which they introduced an innovative design of the new supermarket carry on — an eco-conscious fabric substitute for the all too familiar, non-biodegradable plastic shopping bag. The authors of the idea envision that the future shopping bag could look something like this.
Later on the project's participants are planning to design a wide variety of nature friendly shopping bags, each with a different environmental image or slogan. Also in the works, is an idea of bringing into the project the youth of the fashion industry — the young talents who would create a collection of designer bags with various ecological themes.
