 | «The 4th Block» academic accomplishmentsOn Thursday, February 11th at the Kharkiv State Academy of Arts and Design one of the members of Designers’ Association «The 4th Block» Olga Severina had received her Doctorate Degree in Fine Arts. Her comprehensive research, named «Eco-poster: formation and development.» was based on a unique collection of environmental posters, listing nearly fifty five hundred titles, which was compiled after seven International Triennials «The 4th Block».
Prior to Olga’s thesis the collection was used for a variety of scientific studies — it has been a basis for several bachelor's and three master's degrees, and a subject of numerous student essays, but such a systematic scientific analysis was conducted only now, 20 years after the first exhibition opened in 1991. This extensive research is not only significant as an academic inquiry, but also as an exploration of such fundamental issues as development of eco-consciousness within the contemporary arts.
Olga Severina is not an «office bred» researcher. As «The 4th Block» Triennial curator she experienced «live», all the transformations that took place in the world of the environmental poster, and overcame with dignity all the difficulties that became associated with the organizing efforts of our exhibitions.

 | «4th Block» in Vienna
There is a retrospective exhibition of «4th Block» collection of posters taking place in Wien now. The grand Opening was on the 10th of September in «IIID space» gallery. Posters will bring visual joy for audience almost whole month. On the 11th of September 2009, the next day if to be precise, Oleg Veklenko had a lecture and showed his famous photos. All this become reality thanks to the efforts of Dominik Hruza (organizer), Serhij Mishakin, Tania Borzunova, Mariczka Ruban (co-operation partners) with the support of Association «Design Austria» and the financial aid of the Federal Ministry for Education, Arts and Culture.
